Health Update

We got the results from Christopher's sleep study. He does have a mild form of sleep apnea. The doctors do not want to do anything right now....they said that they don't do anything until he gets to a 5. Right now Christopher is at a 2.5, which means that 2.5 times an hour he stops breathing for at least 10 seconds. If he gets to the 5 that would mean it happens 5 times an hour. Christopher's apnea seems to make it hard for him to sleep through the night. He is wakes up three or four times a night, because of this he starts out in his own bed and then moves to ours. They are going to re-test Christopher in six months. Hopefully he improves and it won't be a concern anymore.

Christopher was also seen by an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist. Everything looks pretty good right now. In a few months we are going to re-test his hearing because he was screaming way too much during the last one. It was impossible to get accurate results. We are pretty sure that he is hearing just fine, but we would rather be safe then sorry.

Christopher has an allergy test coming up at the end of April. We will see what they are saying now. I am being very care full with his medications. I don't to mess up the test again. He can't have Zyrtec for one month before the test....so he isn't taking that anymore. He does seem to be suffering from seasonal allergies more now. He can still take Benadryl, so for the moment we are using that. However, one week before his test, he can't have that either. That will be one tough, can't go anywhere, no one can visit him week.

Hopefully soon Christopher will be seen by a pulmonary specialist. Asthma is still a concern. When Christopher is playing hard or becomes more active his breathing becomes labored and he starts to cough. The doctors also noticed that does seem to wheeze a bit. Now that the sleep test is done, the next step is to find out about the possible asthma.

As always, we will keep everyone updated as we find out more.

Christopher's New Bed

Christopher figured out how to climb up and down our bed so we decided that it was time to convert his crib. We went out and bought a bed rail that is designed for convertible cribs. I didn't want Christopher to sleep in his bed without the rail because he moves around a lot in his sleep.

He is now falling asleep on his own. He hadn't done that before. He takes almost all his naps in his bed, and he starts his night out in this bed. He isn't sleeping through the night, (the reason will be in another post.) so when he wakes up he moves to our bed. Maybe one day we will really get our bed back. Check out the cutie as he sleeps in his new bed.

To help Christopher stay in his bed longer we decided to buy him a new bedding set. (Well, Grandma bought it.) We ordered a bed set we knew he would love, The Backyardigans. He was sooo excited when he saw his "new" bed. He loves to point out all the characters.

(Isn't he just the cutest little guy?)

Biopark Fun!

Elena and Millie decided to take everyone to the Botanical Gardens and Aquarium this past weekend. We all made a day of it. We started out walking through Heritage Farm. We saw some farm animals, some equipment, an old farm house, an orchard, and a vegetable garden. Then we headed over to the Japanese Garden. There we saw some beautiful plants, an awesome waterfall, and some cool koi fish.

After the Japanese Garden we all got some much needed water and hopped on the Rio Line. The Rio Line is a train which runs from the Gardens and Aquarium to the Zoo, with a stop at Tingly Beach. The ride was lots for almost everyone. Christopher decided to take a nap instead of taking in the sights, but everyone else had lots of fun.

When the train ride was over we headed over to the Children's Fantasy Garden, where we had a nice little snack in the giant pumpkin. Once everyone was done wondering through the Gardens, we all paid a visit to the fish.

After such a fun filled day, we were all hungry so we headed over to Garcia's. Yum, Yum!!!! What a great day we had!

(What a cool waterfall.)

(Christopher and Bea are checking out the fish.)

(What a cool group of people.)

(Christopher loves his vegetables!)

Eye Update

In the beginning the eye doctor thought Christopher would need surgery. However, with the visit he had yesterday the doctor he definitely wouldn't need any surgery. Christopher still needs to wear an eye patch for an hour every day, but he doesn't have to return to the eye doctor until October. Then we may be able to find out if he needs glasses.

All Crouped Up

Last night Christopher got a very bad barking cough and was wheezing. After listening to him cough a couple more times, we decided to take him to the ER. We were there for 4 hours, however luckily Christopher slept through most of it. When we got to see a doctor, it was determined that he has Croup. He was given a steroid while we were there, and he has one more dose he needs to take tomorrow night. Hopefully he will be better soon and his cough should go away in a couple weeks.

Bubbles

Marshmallows

Christopher was very excited about eating some marshmallows. He doesn't get to eat very many sweet things and marshmallows are something he really likes. This time he got to eat some of the BIG ones!! Then we decided to roast the marshmallows. Christopher was very interested in watching Mama roast them, but he didn't want to do it himself. He would watch Mama and shout "COOK". Although Christopher didn't want to eat the roasted marshmallows, he had a lot of fun watching them cook.

Hair Cut Time

Christopher's hair was getting WAY too long. He kept trying to rub the hair out of his eyes, and it was getting harder and harder to comb. There were too many tangles. So we decided that it was time for him to get a hair cut. Only one problem: Christopher HATES hair cuts.

This time I took him to a place called Kid's Jungle Cuts. He walked in and started fussing until he saw the cars he could play with. He picked out one of the cars and then he was placed in the chair. It was a pretty cool chair. It looked like a miniature version of a real saloon chair. He was buckled in and then had a small smock placed on him. As soon as he heard the clippers he started crying. He didn't the noise they made. After the clippers, another one of employees started blowing bubbles for Christopher. That helped him relax a little. He did pretty good, but there was a lot of tears. I will defiantly take Christopher back to this place for his next hair cut!

Even though he was squirming a lot and screaming the whole time, he did end up with a cool hair cut.

Out On The Deck

The weather has been really nice lately, so we have been spending a lot of time outside. Christopher usually plays on the front porch, but yesterday we went out on the back deck. Christopher was very shocked to see this new part of his world. He was very excited to walk all over and listen to the different noises the deck was making. He then spent the next two hours throwing balls all over the deck and watching them roll off. He had a great time! I hope this nice weather lasts a while. Christopher really loves to play outside!
