Allergy Update

Christopher went to see his allergist yesterday. He did really good all the way until he was poked 43 times. I felt soooo bad for him. We re-tested all the foods and added in the outdoor allergies as well. We now know that Christopher does have outdoor allergies. We also found out that he may no longer be allergic to tomato, beef, and peanuts. We have to wait for the results of his blood test to make sure. We are all crossing our fingers and hoping that he has outgrown these allergies because that would really open up his food options. As always we will keep you posted.

When Words Are Not Enough

Health Update

This most recent visit to Christopher's doctor was to decide what the next in regards to his possible asthma would be. After listening to my concerns and to Christopher's chest, it was decided that we should go to the Pediatric Asthma Clinic. It seems Christopher may have a Exercise Induced Asthma.
Everything else checked out just fine. Christopher has another allergy test on Wednesday. This time around, I have made sure he isn't taking any medicine that will interfere with the test. This test should give us a better look at what he is really allergic to.
As always, we will keep you posted!

Lots of Fun

Bea called "Nena" and asked if she could go to Chuck E. Cheese. We decided to make a day of it and everyone joined Bea.

Christopher and Bea had lots of fun playing ski ball. Bea also enjoyed the rides and many other games. She liked to sit on the rides that would take her picture.

Christopher had much more fun playing basketball and dropping coins into the machines. He also enjoyed pulling the tickets out.

Everyone took a break from all the games to eat some food. There was pizza, salad, and pork chops (from another restaurant) for Christopher.

Yohanna and Evelyn finished eating and went right back to the games. They were having lots of fun trying to improve from the last time they visited Chuck E. Cheese.

Then it was time to cash in all the tickets for prizes. Christopher had lots of fun putting tickets into thecounting machine. When I asked him what he wanted to get he said "BALL". I got him the biggest ball his tickets could buy. (Just what I wanted, another ball in the house.) The girls also had lots of fun picking out what they wanted.

Even Elena, Millie, and Elva got to have some of the loot.

Kite Flying?

As the weather starts to warm up, we decided to buy Christopher some kites. We picked out two kites that we thought he would really like. One is a fish and one is Disney's Cars. After we bought them the weather changed and become colder and windier. We weren't able to fly them.

Today we thought that we might be able to fly them. Charlie and I have never flown kites before, so we really had no idea what we were doing. We gave it our best shot...but didn't get the kite going. Apparently it was still too windy.

Christopher didn't know any better and thought that it was really cool. He squealed with excitement and chased the kite all around. Silly boy!

Easter Fun

We started our Easter by dying some eggs. Christopher is allergic to eggs, so we needed to make sure that he didn't have too much contact with them. I found a really neat egg dying system that worked really well for him. You place the dye and the egg into the machine, and then press the top down until the egg has spun all around and is covered in dye. It's as easy to push as the spinner toys Christopher has. He had a lot of fun tossing the eggs into it and watching them spin.

(Christopher working hard to dye his first egg.)

(What a great looking egg.)

(Look at all the fun they are having.)

(Christopher saying "Please" can I have another egg?)

(What pretty eggs.)

(Watching very closely.)

(Christopher getting angry because he doesn't have an egg.)

After the eggs were dyed, we packed up and headed Grandma Mary's for a yummy Easter cookout. Christopher got to spend some time with his uncles, aunts, and other family. There were hot dogs, ribs, potato salad, fried chicken, and beans. In addition to the Easter fun we were all having, it was also a great time to celebrate Christopher's Uncle DJ's 31st birthday. We ate a tasty chocolate cake.

Once everyone was finished eating, the Easter baskets were handed out. Christopher got one from his Grandma Mary and one from us. He was very excited to get them both. I worked very hard to make sure that his basket was full of candy that he could eat. I knew that it would be harder for Mary because she doesn't remember everything Christopher is allergic to. (Who could blame her, it is a lot to remember.)

(From Grandma Mary.)

(From Mama and Daddy.)

After that the little kids headed outside for the exciting Easter egg hunt. Most of the older children beat Christopher to the eggs, but we did manage to get him some. Once all the eggs were found, we re-hid some of the eggs so Christopher could find them again. He was having a blast looking for all of them.

Then we headed back inside to check out all the loot. I put special candy in some of the eggs and marked them with a "C". We traded some of Christopher's unmarked eggs for marked ones so he eat the candy too. After a little while, we also had to give away the real eggs Christopher found because the cracked ones were started to make him itchy. We then put his eggs into a carton and said our goodbyes. We all had an eggcellent time and can't wait 'til next year.

(Check out all those eggs.)
